November 27th - Cody - DBZ: Budokai
Well...the North American release date is nearing! December 4th is only a few days away! I hope you've all been saving your allowance, as I've only been hearing good things about this game. It's already released in Europe, and our it seems our fellow Europeans are enjoying it thoroughly. There even seems to be wild rumors of hidden characters such as Majin Vegeta and Gotenks! Awesome! If any of you have any new information about the game, don't hesitate to e-mail me and give me the low down!
This site is in French, but has a wide selection of screen captures. Enjoy!
November 16th - Cody - DBGT Confirmed!
We all knew Funimation would be producing DBGT, but here it is from the horse's mouth!
From this month's Club Z Newsletter:
The wait is almost over. Dragon Ball GT is coming to the United States. We just started production on this eagerly awaited continuation of the Dragon Ball Z saga.
We are very excited about Dragon Ball GT because we know how much our fans are looking forward to its release. As a matter of fact over 100,000 fans answered our Dragon Ball GT poll, and an astounding 96% already plan to watch GT. Sonny Strait, the voice of Krillin, has taken on the directorial role for Dragon Ball GT.
The first home video release is scheduled for early spring of 2003, so get ready as FUNimation takes Dragon Ball Z to the next level with Dragon Ball GT.
Excellent news. Irwin has yet to confirm wether or not they have plans to extend their Dragonball line to include the last installment of Dragonball. Of course, being a Dragonball figure fan, I seriously hope they do. Who wouldn't love a fully articulated SS4 Goku and Vegeta?
Yum!

November 27th - Cody - New Packaging?
It seems that Irwin has started releasing their latest series of figures in new packaging. It is unclear as to why they have made the change, but any one of us can probably come up with several ideas. One idea presented, is that this could be the new packaging for the "Battle Ravaged" Series that Irwin has been speaking about. Others yet feel that this packaging is a marketing scheme in hopes of attracting more children to buy the figures. Obviously, the package is more flamboyant, and will surely catch the eye of fans and children alike.
But, do YOU like the change? Personally, I prefer the old packaging....this new style seems less proffesional. Irwin also seems to have canned the collectable dragonballs that came with the figures. I suppose this is a good move, as I've got 70 of these things in a box, and furthermore, not a complete set!
Here is SS3 Goku sporting the new package. As you can see, it still has the card, but is lacking the familiar collection of dragonballs.
Like it or hate it, there it is. Other Series 11 Figures in the new packaging can be found on Ebay.
November 16th - Cody - News o' Plenty
If you're an Irwin DBZ Action figure fan, then you'll love this news. Here's the latest from Dragonballtoys.com:
Irwin Toy will be continuing their wildly successful series of action figures and vehicles based on the Dragonball license in 2003 with a new theme: "BATTLE-RAVAGED".
This radical concept will take existing assortments -- their basic 5" line, "Energy Glow" series, vehicles and playsets -- and take them to the battle ravaged outskirts of the DBZ universe by adding "Battle Blaster Damage". Rough and tough is the idea here, and it will also be incorporated into several new intriguing toy arenas such as "Power Strikers" and "Battle Scenes".
This is indeed excellent news. However, as of yet, no-one is quite sure what these proposed series encompeses. I'm really excited about the "Signature Scenes" line, which I hope will include such memorable sequences as the "Decisive Battle of Cell" or a nicely articulated Majin Vegeta vd SS2 Goku set. Here's to hoping! I will keep you updated.
It seems that IF Labs Series 4 images have been released. The set includes Vegeta, Trunks, Android 13 and Super Android 13. You can check out the images at Dragonballtoys.com, under the "Galleries" index.
A K-Mart exclusive has arisen, and it consists of all four IF Labs Movie Collection Series 2, which includes an "Exclusive Gold Paint SS Vegeta". If you're an IF Lab fan, then you may want to check your local K-Mart. The set goes for $49.99US, but has been found to be cheaper in some locales.
Irwin Series 11, which consists of SS3 Goku, Evil Majin Buu, Bulma, SS Gohan, and Kibito/Supreme Kai, is now currently being released in North America. I've heard nothing but good news about this set from overseas fans. However, SS3 Goku seems to be the difficult one to obtain. Happy hunting! |
